Independent Study Illustration
Sadly this is my first art post of the semester. Oh well. I was able to create a mock up street view using Adobe Illustrator CS5's perspective tool. The name of the store is Bakers Treat. I'm not that thrilled with how this turned out. Maybe it's because I've been working with a lot of organic shapes, and textures this semester that this feels to stiff for me.
Check back later for Graphic Design III semester work!
You should express yourself daily. Learn who you are. Do what you love. Do as you say. You only get one you, so use you wisely.

someday
someday i will post my school projects, i will go to bed when my husband does, and i will enjoy the beautiful fall weather. Someday my eyes won't hurt from 15+ hours on a computer, i can play with my puppy guilt free, and have time for friends and my family. Someday...

5 things I'm most excited about this school year...
I was so angry the first couple days of classes. About half way though last week I realized..."hey this is my LAST FULL semester as a college student-suck it up and ENJOY!" I will never be able to work 1/2 days again (unless we have kids, and I stay home, even at that I'd come home and put on the mommy hat). So I embraced it. I'm excited for this semester. Actually for this entire school year.
Because:
1. My senior project-I want to turn it into a real business already!
*these are just color ideas, they will most likely change!*
2. The hubby and I are staring to take Grow classes at church. This is a 2 year in-depth study that covers the ENTIRE Bible. I can't wait to make my brain bigger with biblical knowledge. I've been a Christian for almost 20 years, and I'm ashamed at my lack of "common Bible" knowledge. So I'm changing that.
3. I am loving my LIFEgroup more and more. We will start doing more service projects as a group, and we've added 3 babies in just this year! These people have become like a second family to me, and will be my friends for life.
4. I get to hang out with these guys
5. Lastly, when all is said and done....I will be a college grad! :)

My Senior Project
I finally came to a conclusion about my senior project. For the people reading this, and if you know me at all, this will not come as a surprise. I am planning on creating a bakery/cafe. This will NOT be like Starbucks. It will have coffee and baked goods but it will feel like your walking into someone's house.
There are 3 reasons why people go to a "coffee house."
1. To re connect and or grow in their relationship with their own self
2. To re connect and or grow in their relationship with a friend, loved one, or stranger
3. Lastly to enjoy yummy coffee and the occasional baked good!
I want to create an atmosphere that will enhance the relationships we have, whether it be with ourselves or another person. After all the most important valuable things in life, do not carry a price tag.
My store will be called:
Baker's Treat

Our summer
I realize I've been very bad at keeping up with this. Instead of blabbing on and on about my summer thus far, why don't you look at the photos below to see what we've been up to!
We got a puppy! Meet Reece...the biggest excuse I have for not updating this...
...we celebrated 2 wonderful years at Cork and Cleaver...
...went to Dave...
...found a cake that best represents the color of our house (chocolate pistachio cake)...
...had our first group gathering at our new home...
...we've been to several weddings (wedding 3 of 6 this summer)...
...enjoyed lots of healthy, colorful, summer foods...
...lastly (for now) we are dealing with an on going process of training this "little" guy!

Sadie
I decided to name my company Sexy Sadie. I tried to stay away from using the "sexy" word, but I think it works. Here is my logo:
Each woman represents a Beatles Song. I dressed the women according to their personal in the song and gave them nicknames that go with the song. The nick name is the curly font. I also added elements from the outfit to the end of the curly font.
Sexy Sadie
Michelle my Belle
Dear Prudence
Penny Lane
Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds

Big moments...little things
This key opens the door to our very first house! We will be moving into our home in less than a week. I couldn't be more thrilled to start the next chapter of our lives together. Taking photos of "the little things" are my most favorite photos to take. Hence the photo of a key. They mean nothing to others, but mean more to me than one could ever imagine.

Sadie
For Graphic Design IV we have to come up with a fashion line name, logo, website, magazine ad, and 5 different outfits that all tie into the identity of our company. I wanted to call my fashion line "Sadie." I am basing the name off of the Beatles song "Sexy Sadie." This fashion line will be for upper-class, sexy, single, working, women.
I've asked some of my aunts to take a look at my sketches and fabric swatches to make sure I was on the right track. I will post my fashion illustrations as I complete them.
Here is the logo I'm working on.
Does that logo say upper-class, sexy, single, working, women?

Illustration Pieces
Here are some of my Illustration pieces from this semester.
This poster was designed for the play King Lear, by William Shakespeare. The theater department on IPFW's campus asks every spring Illustration IV class to design 3 posters for the 3 plays that will be held the following year at IPFW's William's Theater. We were asked to get into 3 different groups, based on the play we wanted to read then illustrate. This was the first assignment I've done mainly all in Photoshop. I did not win.
This was a poster that I made for my individual project. I desided to illustate 2 different design styles of Tylers cousin's band. They are called. Erin and the Elders. This project was also done mostly in Photoshop. This design style is the trendy grunge. The next and last poster will be a swiss style. I'm really excited about the next one!

Just Keep Breathing
I've been VERY busy with school/work/internship (that I don't have yet but I'm still looking!)/house/family/friends and all that other stuff life throws at you. Like Sleeping, eating oh yeah personal hygiene...which takes up entirely way too much of my time, but I'm sure the hubby and peers enjoy that I actually take care of that part of my life.
Due to my crazy schedule and everything I need to accomplish by 9am tomorrow this will be short, simple and sweet.
My FAVORITE sites to go to since I've been facebook free for 2 weeks and 2 days!

little things
...keep the marriage fun. While the hubby was at Church I set candles on the steps, put his comfy pants next to them and wrote a note that said "you wife would like you to put on your comfy pants and join her for a comfort food dinner date."
Then I set the table, put on some Ray Lamontagne
and waited.
Then we sat down for some Easy Shepherd's Pie, complements of Kraft Foods
It really is a blessing that I fall in love with him a little more everyday.

What Says Me?
That was a question a professor asked us for our self promotional assignment. That question has haunted me since that night. I started my daily creative journal because of that question. I've been obsessively looking at design website/blogs to get inspiration. I even created this blog. I feel as though I'm busting my butt to "find myself" and to find "my style" and I'm failing. That scares me. "Finding myself" should be one of the easiest things I ever do and it's beginning to be the most difficult challenges I've given myself. I even started to sample different styles of clothing. I tried trendy (plaid) which my husband now thinks I look cute in. I've tried dressed up, I'm done with the "college" sweatshirt and jeans look. But I have gotten some success with the hippy/70's/bohemian look. I think I'm most comfortable in that and I feel that is mostly me. But as far as design. I'm lost! I'm going to start senior project and I have no idea how to promote myself. I have until the end of this semester (a goal I set for myself). I want to be able to design something and people are able to tell that was designed by me. Maybe it's a good quality that I don't have one set style. I think that shows weakness.
I'm beginning to feel the stress of this semester. 3 more months. 3 more months. 3 more months.

True Grace
This is a photo of my wonderful and truly beautiful Grandma.
Everyone says their Grandma is wonderful, but she really was wonderful. She was a women who was the ultimate example of grace, forgiveness, and love. She was there for me when my parents got a divorce with I was 11. She was there to clean up my cut leg from a bike accident. She was there to help my mom buy us new school clothes when she couldn't afford them. She was there for me when I made my first and second formal dresses. She was there when I needed a place to live. They said she wouldn't make it to our wedding in June 2008. She was there.
She passed away September 24th 2009.
